YMCA’s Strong Kids Campaign

This is a call out to all fellow pickleball players and their friends/relatives to help in the support of a great organization.  One of our local YMCA’s, Home Court in Meridian, has been an enormous supporter of the game we love.  They have given us four courts to play on year around and have opened their arms to all our members so I think we should help their causes.  I know we all share the YMCA’s belief that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve.  There are thousands of kids throughout our country that have benefitted from their programs that have led to them becoming positive role models for other kids.  As a result of campaigns like “Strong Kids”, families have been able to grow closer, families in need have received support, guidance and other resources when they needed it most.

So I am asking all of my fellow pickleballers to look in their hearts and open their pocket-book and give to their local Y’s, wherever you may live.  It’s only through our financial support that the Y can continue to provide help for our community kids and their families.  They are counting on the generosity of us and other people in our community, so let’s show them how much their programs mean to our pickleball community.  Remember your donations will have an impact on so many in and around the country.

To make donations contact the HomeCourt YMCA at (208) 855-5711 or talk to the YMCA representative at the Y you attend.

Welcome and Some Thanks

I’d like us to welcome back our winter-birds, Donna and Louis Silver & Karen Miller, who have been in California for the past month or so and some of our members who have been out awhile, Don and Ellen Gasaway who have been gone helping their son during his illness.  Also back is Ray Stephens and Sharon Pointer who were out working on their house. So when you see these folks give them a big “Welcome Back”.  We also had a new player join us Wednesday, Judy Smith, came and played with us and hopes to continue, so give her some encouragement and help her with her game if you can, it’s also great to see new players.

I would also like to give a big thanks to “Mitch” Mitchell for the Drills and Skills Wednesday.  It was great to see him jump in there and help with our Wednesday Drills and Skills.  It looked like everyone was having a great time and getting some good tips, so thanks Mitch.

Happy Valentine’s Day

It was a happy day had by all.  We dressed in red and pink, gave out kisses (candy of course LOL) and just had a great time.  There were 19 happy valentiners (probably not really a word but oh well) players and boy did we use all four courts.  It’s really nice to see so many members show up, we even had a new player, Lois Glaser join us too.  Some of our fellow players joined Tami and I for lunch, we just talked and talked in fact I think we solved all the world’s problems (LOL).  Hope to see more of you playing in the future.

Here are some pictures to enjoy and laugh about for our fun-filled day.

Guess who forgot to read their email?!?!?

Email for our Palm Desert BAPA Member

Received this comment on our blog from Jan Johnson so I thought I would share with our members.

Nick and Tami, greetings from Palm Springs area.  We just completed a mixed doubles tournament in our resort .  We had 38 teams and all went well except we ran out of daylight and had to go to Catalina Spa to finish under their lights.  Goes to show how the picklers get together to help one another.  I did not play as I was the administrator for the games.  We had some of the top players in California and Arizona on the agenda.  I have been following the great work being done in the Homecourt and assume that these accomplishments are the result of the BAPA members doing their thing!   Looking forward to seeing and playing with you all when we return in April.  Keep on roasting them, peeling them, and pickling them.  Jan

Once again it sounds like pickleball is alive and thriving.
