“There’s some new courts in town, Partners”

Thanks to the efforts of Wayne Larsen and Kevin Johnson, as well as the Meridian’s Parks and Recreation Department’s forward thinking and allowing us, the Pickleball community, to tape two more courts at Settlers Park.  With the help of at least 30 loyal pickleballers the taping was completed in record time and players were on the courts by 10am playing the game we all love.  Due Wayne and Kevin we now have 5 outdoor courts in one location and with them opening the door they may be able to get more in the future.  So if you see Wayne or Kevin give’m a high-five.  Now let’s go play Pickleball.

Can you give me an idea of the level of activity that’s involved with pickleball? I have had a little trouble recovering from a hip replacement although it is getting better. I need activities I can do as I improve. I’d get my doctor’s approval but I’d appreciate your take on the level of fitness and flexibility needed for pickleball. Thank you!

I am not sure if anyone replied previously to this or not. Assuming that you don’t have complications with the hip you should be just find. Several of the members of the club have undergone hip replacements and have not had issues. I had knee replacement in December and was back playing about 7 weeks after surgery (although pretty gingerly for the fist month or so back.

You can play at a recreational level without having to be particularly athletic. Come on out and join the fun!
