Boise Area Pickleball News

It is with heartfelt sorrow that I share the sad news of the loss of a great friend and Master Pickleballer, Dennis Forbes.  Mr. Forbes passed away from a stroke, while he slept, in his home in AZ yesterday evening.  Please join me in prayers for his beautiful wife Linda and the family.  Dennis and Linda enjoyed their summers in the Boise, ID (Treasure Valley area),   Those of us who were graced to know Dennis will sorely miss him.

The USAPA  and the great sport of pickleball has lost a truly special person.  Dennis taught many of us how to elevate our playing abilities so as to be more competitive.  Not only was he a great person and player, but a superb instructor/teacher.  He personally gave me some lessons in humility on more than one occasion!  He unselfishly gave  of his time, knowledge, skills and abilities to promote the pickleball sport throughout the country.  He had a special love for teaching handicapped children our beloved game.  Thanks Dennis, your memories and contributions will forever be enshrined in the halls of the USAPA.

January 22^nd  (Tuesday) is our January BAPA Tournament.   Jack & Rhonda will be “hosting” this month.  The format will be DOUBLES – random drawing, if you draw a male you play with a male, if you draw a woman you play with a woman.  5 games will be played to 15 and the winners will be the high scores.  The tournament will start at 8:30am so please get there early to pay and sign up.

The cost is $2.00 for members and $5.00 for non-members.  If you would like to join our club (BAPA-Boise Area Pickleball Assoc.), the dues are only $12.00 a year per person or $20.00 per year for a couple…

There will be no need to pre-register, just come and bring your money the morning of play.  If you have not signed a “Release Waiver” Form yet, we will have some printed copies there for you to read and sign.

As always this tournament is meant to be fun and to get some good skills in (for playing and refereeing)…  Goodies are always appreciated for the players as well…

The new years first club tournament will be held on Tuesday, January the 22nd. This month’s tournament directors will be Jack Bonawitz and Rhonda Reed.  More information to come but put this date on your things-to-do list.
