More Good News

The good news just keeps coming.  I want you all to join me in congratulating our two new USAPA Ambassadors, John Sweeting and Rhonda Reed.  This is really great new for our club too because that gives us six ambassadors in our club.  It’s great to know that we will have so many good pickleball ambassadors out there promoting the game we all love so much.  When you get the chance give them a pat on the back.

I would like to also thank all the pickleballers who have brought their friends and neighbors to play with us and encourage them to also encourage those new players to join our club and the USAPA.

True Troopers

We all had been told, by our local media, that a terrible snow storm was coming and not to be out on the highways unless it was absolutely necessary. So what does a true pickleball player do, well they do what seven of our club members did this morning, they braved the weather and came to play their beloved game.  Yes that’s right seven brave souls showed up this morning at Home Court.  You all thought mailmen were brave well they ain’t got nothin’ on a pickleball player.  When we had finished playing this morning there was at least 3-4 inches of snow on the parking lot.  We said our good-byes and told each other to be careful and out in the weather we went.   So when you think of brave and true troopers think of us pickleball players too.  See ya all tomorrow.

Attendance

Just wanted you all to know that the attendance today was so GREAT!  We had 21 players, yes I said 21.  I think all levels of play were represented.  We started play at 8:30am and when Tami and I left at 12 noon there were still around 10-12 people still banging that ball around the courts.  It exciting to see this kind of turn out and just think the winter birds won’t be back for months so just think of the number of players we could have this spring and summer, it’s going to be GREAT!

Skills and Drills

Sorry this post is a day late, but my internet connection was down yesterday, so I couldn’t get the post in.

Anyway, Yesterday (Wed), we held our 1st Skills and Drills day for the new year. Tim Gleason,

Tim Gleason

was our fearless leader and instructor for the hour.  We had a great turnout – 20 players!!!  Tim taught us the “perfect” return of serve technique, the “soft” game of dinking properly, and the “semi” poach shot – to block back the 3rd shot (if hit hard) from the serving team…

These were all great skills to learn and work on – a great time was had by all !!!  Thank you Tim for sharing with us your time and knowledge of the game we all love so much…   We also have Rodell Hill and Joe Bonawitz in our club that have also given of their time and knowledge for us.  Our thanks to them as well…See you next Wednesday for our next Sills and Drills lesson…    Paddles up!
