Come and enjoy great Pickleball at the Ogden Pickleball Association’s Annual Tournament. This will be a skill level tournament with divisions in Men’s and Women’s Doubles as well as Mixed Doubles. Tournament to be held June 24th and 25th at the Monroe Park in Ogden, UT. Pickleball that is. The Treasure Valley Home Court YMCA in Meridian, ID held the first ever “skill level” Pickleball tournament April 1st through the 3rd. There were over 80 participants with skill levels from 2.5 to 4.5 and divisions included Men’s Singles, Men and Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles. Participants ages ranged for 10 years old, yes I mean 10, to 70+. There were over a 100 matches and same really awesome pickleball games. We want to thanks Scott Swanson, the YMCA Homecourt Branch Director, who was also the Tournament, and all the volunteers, without these people working tirelessly tournaments like this could not be held. Also we want to thank the YMCA organization for vision of what Pickleball can be in our area. We’re looking forward to next year. Here are the tournament results:

The Idaho Seniors Games were held August 7th and 8th in Boise at the Timberline High School. The Pickleball portion of the games was a great success. There were 85+ players, which is our best year so far. Jack Bonawitz & Rhonda Reed Co-Directed the tournament with the help of so many great volunteers. The weather was also the best in the last five years and made for a lot more enjoyable games and finals. Congratulations to all finalists’ winners and hope to see all of you next year. Idaho Senior Games 2015
Simply Pickleball, a local Pickleball equipment supply company owned by Nick & Tami Leach, and would like to introduce a new piece of equipment that will enhance our Skills and Drills Session services we provide to the Pickleball community. On Tuesday, July the 7th we will be have a promo-demonstration of the Pickleball Tutor at Sawtooth Middle School on Linder (just north of Ustick) in Meridian, ID from 8:30am until 9:30. We will be demonstrating a variety of drills for the first 20-30 minutes than have an “open court” time for people to try out the machine. This is, what some say, ”The #1 Pickleball Practice Machine” specifically designed for Pickleball. You can drill on a specific shots such as; Ground Strokes, Net Volleys, Drop Shots (3rd Shot), Lobs, Return of Serve Cross Court Dinks Shots to name a few. So for those of you who are interested in raising your game through practice drills come check it out.

Local players (over 35) were at Meridian’s Sawtooth Middle School today to tape pickleball lines on six tennis courts to begin our summer season. These courts are open dual purpose usage on a first come first serve basis. The courts are available sun-up to sun-down seven days a week. Most local players play Monday through Friday 9am to exhaustion (LOL). Currently there is no “night-time” play scheduled but if there is an interest contact Nick Leach at 208-965-5409.

The Boise Area Pickleball Association (BAPA) pickleball club is holding their monthly tournament on February the 17th. This months theme is “Mardi Gras” so if you like to dress up feel free to. It will be a Divisional Tournament (Beginners, Intermediate and Advanced), if there is enough player for each division. The tournament is being held at the Meridian Treasure Valley YMCA Home Court, sign-in is at 8 am and the games begin promptly at 8:30 am. All pickleballers are welcome.
